Authority ramps up museum planning with M+ Research Programmes

The Museum Committee recently launched the research programmes for M+, the goal of which is to gather information that will assist the future Museum Policy & Management Services Executive Director in the planning and positioning of the museum. Work will be conducted by local universities and cultural research institutes, which will serve to establish partnerships and nurture the abilities of arts and cultural researchers.

The researches will focus on the four broad themes of M+, namely design, popular culture, moving images and visual art (including ink art). It will involve stock-taking of related artists, collectors, scholars and institutions in their respective fields; a review of international biennials and triennials; an in-depth look at development trends; and an analysis of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. Local universities and research institutes have been invited to submit proposals for the research programmes.
