M+ is going to organise a series of events in the next few weeks to keep you abreast of its development progress and evoke dialogue where issues and ideas that are integral to the museum’s future development can be shared and debated.

M+ Public Forum: Where We are Now and Where We are Going

Following the appointment of Herzog & de Meuron + TFP Farrells as architects and the unveiling of their design for M+ in June this year, Executive Director Dr. Lars Nittve will report on the progress of the museum building project, and also share information on the Arts Pavilion design competition. The recently-appointed Chief Curator Doryun Chong, together with Curator Pauline J. Yao will provide an update on our expanding collection and collecting strategies while Curator Aric Chen will tell us more about “Building M+: The Museum and Architecture Collection”, the next Mobile M+ exhibition opening in January 2014.

M+ Matters: ARTWORKDOCUMENTATION

M+ Matters ARTWORKDOCUMENTATION consists of two evening panel discussions that attempt to unpack the multiple roles that an object (or image) can inhabit—documentation, archive, evidence, historical record, material support—and how these align with our understandings of “the work”. Inviting specialists and practitioners from diverse backgrounds, ARTWORKDOCUMENTATION will look at the ways in which conceptions about “artworks” are in flux, and how these shifts—particularly in the institutional context—can engender new ways of thinking about collections, exhibitions and display.

1) ARTWORKDOCUMENTATION: Photographing China

A conversation about documentary photography in China in the decades following the publication China after Mao.

The panel discussion will look at the ways in which current conceptions about “artworks” are in flux, and how these shifts can engender new ways of thinking about collections, exhibitions and display.

M+ Internship Programme 2014

M+ Internship Programme is a unique opportunity for those who are interested in developing a career in the museum field. Interns will be able to work closely with M+’s professional staff full-time for a period of three months and gain practical and theoretical training in curatorial practice, art education and museum operations. We welcome a wide range of candidates who are passionate about working in the arts and cultural field.
